Today’s generation consists of busy bees who are always working to make an abundant amount of money but what they tend to forget is the old proverb which said ‘Health is Wealth’. Our hands work a lot, doing chores at home, working hours in front of the computer screen, lifting weights at the gym and lots of other wear and tear jobs. Here are some tips which you can follow on daily basis to save your hands from further damage. The best thing is that this hand care routine will take very little time and provide you with excellent results.


Washing hands is a command we have been following from our early childhood and it is a good habit which our elders inculcate in us. Clean the hands with a bar of moisturizing soap and water at least twice a day or more whenever needed. Cleaning removes all kind of impurities present on hands which could cause a lot of minor and major ailments.


Apply a hydrating hand cream at least twice a day or more if needed. After a thorough cleansing of hands applying a cream is needed to restore moisture and keep them soft and supple.

Trim your nails

Cut and clean the nails regularly so that the chances of possible injury are less by scratching and also there will be no dirt accumulating in the nails ready to enter the body and create a nuisance.

Apply oil

Steal some time out of your busy schedule to apply some drops of oil onto the hands and cuticles. Let the oil sit them for some time and penetrate deep within the skin to cure broken and inflamed hands. Do this ritual in the night time and leave oil overnight for magical results.


Sugar and oil are easily available at home so take small quantities of both and scrub your hands gently till the sugar dissolves. Repeat this process at least twice a week and you will notice that hands have become softer and the skin feels like that of a baby.


Visit a salon or do this beauty regime at home. Manicure is a hand detox treatment which should be done occasionally to de-stress the muscles and maintain healthy hands. Dermatologists recommend a manicure at least once a month. A good manicure improves blood circulation and regenerates cells.


Giving a relaxing massage will increase blood circulation and improve the texture of skin. A simple technique of applying pressure and gently rubbing hands is enough to soothe tired hands and relax muscles. This can be done at any time of the day, even between your work schedule and travel. Apply some oil or Vaseline on hands during the massage therapy to make them hydrated.

Eat and Drink Right

Consume plenty of green vegetables and fruits rich in vitamins to bring in the natural glow of your body which will also show on nails. Food rich in Calcium, Proteins, Vitamin B, and Vitamin E should be eaten to make nails strong and shiny. A total of eight glass water should also be consumed to maintain the hydration of the body. Always keep in mind that if the body is not healthy from within no amount of outside care will bring any difference in its texture.


The harmful ultraviolet rays are not only for the face but they also damage our hands so it is essential to apply a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and higher. Harmful UVA and UVB rays can cause harmful effects to our skin such as pigmentation, wrinkles, leathery skin, etc. Apply sunscreen even if you are not going out in sun to save your skin from these possible harms.

Retinol Treatment

Retinol is recommended to people with pigmentation. A cream with retinol can regenerate new cells making it possible for the brown spots to disappear.


Glycerin is known for its moisture lock properties. Apply glycerin and massage hands so that it could go deep inside your skin and work to making hydrated and healthy hands.

Wear gloves

Always wear gloves while working and prevent your hands from overexposure of water. Disposable gloves are available at any drugstore. Buy plenty of them according to your requirement to save hands from any further damages. Try to keep them clean and dry as much as possible.

Vitamin E Oil

This oil is a boon to all your skin problems. It is equally beneficial to both face and nails. Apply some Vitamin E to the cuticles and you will get relief from the burning sensation caused due to cracked skin. Generous usage on hands will work magic within very little time and your hands will turn healthy.


Apply a mask once a week just as you would do to your face. 1 egg white mixed with ½ avocado or any other moisturizing fruit mixed together and applied evenly would be enough for your hands. Leave this mixture for 20 minutes and wash away with lukewarm water. Do not forget to moisturize with a hand cream after cleansing the mask.
